Gandhi Vocational Training Institute

At the time this institute was set up, vocational training was expensive and out of reach of  those with humble backgrounds. This institute was a training facility in Vile Parle that conducted vocational courses for Fitter, Carpenter, Radio Technicians, Electric Wireman, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic and Cutting & Tailoring. The Institute was recognized and accredited by the Maharashtra government for accreditation. The intention was to equip underprivileged youth with a skill to become self sufficient. A token fee was charged.  Larsen & Toubro came forward to refurbish the electrical trade with their equipments and absorb students after training was complete.
Gandhi Vocational Training Institute has established at Mumbai in 1982 with courses like Electrician, Carpentry etc. Later, it also introduced Computer courses, followed in specialization courses like Tailoring & Cutting, Embroidery, Purse & Bag making and Fashion Designing. This Institute stands closed due to non-availability of leased premises since July of 2012.
